In The News at The Blog Guidebook

"Seeking new blogs and great blogging tips, boldly blogging where no one has blogged before."

PAST
A while ago we asked you if you'd be interested in some new features here at The Blog Guidebook.  Here's where we are:

PRESENT
1. A blog critique program - for a minimal fee we would critique your blog, giving you pointers on how to make your blog better.   We got quite a nice response on this, and will be setting up a "waiting list" for whoever would like to sign up for this service.  We will be charging $5 for a critique and short response to each blog. We will hopefully be able to critique 2-3 blogs per week.

2. Blog 4 You - looking for bloggers who would like to blog on other people's blogs, hopefully leading to paid writing positions etc.  Blog 4 You is the idea that there are bloggers who need a break and are looking for great writers/bloggers to fill in for them, or possibly run their blog while they are on vacation or having babies etc.  We received three or four responses to this question.  So far it looks like there would be no remuneration for this, but you would be able to get your name out into other blogging areas.  We will be implementing this behind the scenes, so if you are interested in blogging for another blogger, or you are searching for bloggers to take over your blog, just drop us an email and we'll keep a list to match bloggers up with eachother...(does that make sense?).

3. Did you choose to install LinkWithin?  We tried it and liked it, but decided it was too cluttery. We may get back to it at some point in the future.

4. What happened to Linky Tools?  What effect (if any) did the changes in Linky Tools have on you and your linkies?  We'd love to know how you feel about the fees and changes at Linky Tools.

FUTURE
Our first in the Beginning Blogging Class series will be debuting in the next month or so.

We are excited to be working some awesome guest bloggers.

Keep Blogging!

  1. I understand why Linky Tools couldn't be free anymore, but I've noticed that a lot of bloggers just went to other link tools that don't charge. I really like Linky Tools, but I just can't pay to utitilize it.

  4. I haven't seen a link party tool that provides thumbnail images that is free. I signed up with InLinkz for my own blog so I can start hosting parties, and their thumbnail option isn't free either. All the free ones I've seen are text-only, which for me, when I am wanting to look at people's art and crafts, is less than ideal. InLinkz is cheaper if you pay for a longer period at once and they are more reliable too, which is why I chose them. I join a lot of link parties, but if the thumbnail option is gone, I won't join it. Visual projects, IMO, need thumbnail images to make them entice bloggers to hop over and visit the blog.

  6. The blog critique service sounds interesting. I'd be a little shy to put my blog out there like that...however it's always good to get some objective viewpoints, too :) :) I might have to look into that :) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

  9. I'm looking forward to the blog critique service. I started using Linky Tools just when it started charging a fee. The fee really isn't much for what it provides and I love all the different types of link parties it offers, the management tools, and the ability to create templates for regular link parties. Paying a dollar or two per month isn't much to ask for keeping this going.

  13. Such great ideas! :) Regarding Linky Tools, I know they lost a lot of subscribers because of the fees they had to begin charging and that's kind of sad. The site is run by ONE guy and his customer service is great. He always answers my questions and problems very quickly. He had been doing all of us bloggers who used his site for our parties a huge favor by keeping it free of charge all that time. And $2/month is not a lot of money. I stuck with them and am glad that I did. Brent is a stand up guy who genuinely cares about his subscribers. :)

Comments are how we stay connected as bloggers. Let us know how you feel and we'll return the favor...stay calm and blog on!!! And guess what? You'll never find Word Verification on our blog...it gets kind of annoying when you can't read what WV wants you to verify right?
