Even if you don't have an iPhone or Android you still wish you could use Instagram, right? Hopefully one day that time will come... If you're a lucky Instagrammer and you want to show off your awesome daily pics on your blog - you can do it! It's simple to install...it's just an HTML widget in your sidebar!
Thanks to SnapWidget.com you can show off Instagram anytime! Plus, it's freakin' FREE!!!! Woot! Of course, there is a Pro version, but try this first. Click on SnapWidget to get started.
For this tutorial I borrowed the Username of The Nautical Wife...since we don't have our own Instagram account yet. So if you want to feature a few photos of a close friend
After clicking "Get Your Free Widget" from SnapWidget fill in the above info. Changing the Layout here will change how many rows and columns of photos that show. |
Your final product will look something like this... |

The first Instagram widget BAdgePLZ.com was developed in Feb 2011. Now more than 140 000 blogs already use it. Use BadgePLZ.com Instagram widget too.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the tip! It works great, except I am not sure how this can be done with Wordpress? Any advice? All my "Widgets" are standard and doesn't appear to give me the option to add the code.
ReplyDeleteHere's an article from last year that I found about Wordpress options: http://wpmu.org/10-instagram-plugins-for-wordpress/

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this. I needed it desperately but it won't work for some reason. It's saying, "Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.
ReplyDeleteXML error message: The markup in the document following the root element must be well-formed.
Error 500". What do I need to do? My email is tollercortne@gmail.com. Thanks again.
Hmmm...good question. Try refreshing your browser and logging in again. You can always contact Blogger Help and see if they're just having a glitch that day.
DeleteThank you for simplifying this! A huge help :)
ReplyDeleteHi. Thanks for a great blog :) I did just as you described and it went good un till the photos didn't show on the site. Can you help explain why this might be?
ReplyDeleteThanks
Trine
www.foodbyfaber.com (sorry, its in danish, but I'm sure you understand the meaning)
Hi Trine, it should work. You might just check your code and make sure something didn't get left behind, like a closing tag or something. What is your Instram url? I'll send you the code.
ReplyDeleteSorry to ask, but I'm all new with this - how do I find the Instram url?

LOL Well once I noticed it was a widgit right from my Blogger dashboard I got it now.....THANK YOU! :-) Mama is happy now.
ReplyDeleteWhere were you able to put the HTML code from Snapwidget, where on the blogger dashboard? Thanks!!
DeleteI want the feed to go directly underneath my "Who I Follow" gadget on the sidebar, so I am pasting the code from Snapwidget directly inbetween the Blog Archive and Who I follow codes in the HTML section of the template. Nothing shows up though.. I paste the code by the header and it shows up at the very top of my blog. Help, if you can I am beyond frustrated!
ReplyDeleteOriette,
DeleteYou may have to open a new gadget/widget in the blogger layout...then drag it to the location you want it in. Send me a link to your blog so I can check it out.
thanks you so much! =)
ReplyDeleteThank you fort this quick tutorial. It was a piece of cake to put it in my self-hosted wordpress blog.
ReplyDeleteI went to widgets and dag-and-drop text to my sidebar. I simply copied the code in there and it worked right away!

DeleteThanks for posting!! Just did this on my blog, and it worked like a charm!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI was trying to put it on my blog as a slide show for my instagram, but instead im getting a box with a sad face, has this happened to anyone?
Monica, have you tried re-installing? Maybe just check the URL you are entering...possibly it isn't finding your Instagram feed....good luck!
DeleteThank you so much for the tutorial! It was so much help!! :D

Brilliant post! Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteQuick question...I've added my Instagram to my blog, but the images look really faded and a little unclear...is this normal? Or have I missed something?
http://missenchanting.blogspot.co.uk/
Katie x
Katie, I checked out your blog and you did a great job! The only thing I can see that is a bit different is yes, the image is somewhat "shadowed" until you scroll over it and then it brightens. My only suggestion would be to re-install it again and make sure you are choosing the options you want. Great blogging!
DeleteOkay, there is a HOVER option...this may be what you used without knowing it. Make sure when you reinstall that it says NONE in the HOVER EFFECT box.
DeleteHey! Thank you so much for the great tips! I has worked really well, I was just wondering if it updates to my newest photos automatically, as it hasnt yet! thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteLucy from www.dinosaurdances.com
Yes it will. It does on my blog anyway.

ReplyDeleteOk Im really lost where do you post this code??
ReplyDeleteHiya,
ReplyDeleteSuch useful advice, thank you! I'm a little stuck on getting it on to my blog though - I'm absolutely clueless when it comes to HTML so wasn't sure whereabouts I put the info? When I do add it on, and click to 'Save Template', it comes up with "Error parsing XML, line 2100, column 112: The reference to entity "v" must end with the ';' delimiter". Would you have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks!
Steph

ReplyDeleteHi, thanks so much for the tip! I did it and got my Instagram to show on the side of my blog, but for some reason Blogger is leaving a huge space between it and the next widget (which is Twitter) and I can't figure out why it does that. You can see it here: http://findingjoyandbeauty.blogspot.fi/

ReplyDeleteYou made this so easy, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this!! How can I make the photos bigger on my blog please?
ReplyDeleteHey Alexis...I'm not sure what you mean by bigger...you can go into the code you pasted into the HTML and change the WIDTH and HEIGHT by pixel...if you want it to fit your sidebar better...the less photos you choose in the widget, the larger the photos will be...if you get my meaning??? Let me know how it goes!
DeleteThank you very much for you blog. It really helps me with my Instagram Plug in :) Love it.

ReplyDeleteHi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this tutorial. I am having problems attempting to figure out where you find the blogger configure box? I have generated the code but can't find how to find it within my blogger account?
Many thanks,

ReplyDeleteIt doesn't work for me :(
ReplyDeleteAny idea what I am doing wrong? www.littlehelsb.com
Thanks x
For some reason this won't work for me. I've tried with two different gadget makers like this one & have done it multiple times just to be sure it wasn't user error, & it just leaves a big white space in my sidebar. I even tried to make my instagram public [though that was never an issue on Wordpress] and it still didn't work. Makes me sad because I would love to get my instagram feed onto my blog! Are there any other options?
ReplyDeleteAha! Thanks! Does anyone know how to make the twitter widget wider?
ReplyDeletewww.strutup.blogspot.co.uk
ReplyDeletethe title of the widget is working but none of my pictures are appearing (littleditsydaisy.blogspot.co.uk) do you know what i may have done wrong?
