How Do You Think of Things To Blog About?

What to blog about? That is one of the main questions we get here at The Blog Guidebook. Sometimes we hit a bloggy brick wall when it comes to interesting content that will keep our readers entertained and educated. It is difficult to answer, because if you're a mommy blogger and write about family and the daily routine, then there is a broader range of topics.

So, we had a little idea.

We would love you to share with our readers some of the subjects you think are best to blog about. Or, how you choose something to blog about. You may also leave requests here for us to blog about in the future.

Leave a comment below, and click the box that will send you follow up comments from others. This will allow us all to read the comments and create a mini "chat room" about this issue. Feel free to leave multiple comments! For all who leave a comment we will have a drawing for one of our new Bee Calm and Carry On posters!

We look forward to hearing your input!

  1. I find that my most popular posts are furniture transformations. I think my readers really want to see before and afters. And they appreciate when you share specific details such as the brand and color of paint used or a tutorial on a specific technique.

  2. I've found that people really appreciate helpful posts - "how to" tips for photography, crafts, etc. Of course, giveaways are always popular. And I think people appreciate when you just share real life experiences and funny stories with them.

  4. My posts range from crafting & artwork to photographic essays.

Yet when my creative muse is missing, I just browse through my photo gallery or take a ride for inspiration.

A drive seems to always give me ideas, and my camera is forever at my side.

  5. My life seems to give me more than enough to blog about daily... and my blog is mostly family, special needs kids and spiritual.. so life is what happens there :) My problem seems to be in actually having time to blog what is in my head :)

I find it funny that my most read posts are have the fewest comments, and the most commented on ones are the lowest in hit stats... funny!

  6. I do a lot of devotional type blogs. I blog a lot about what is on my heart and how I am growing as a person.

I also seem do a lot of just day to day life blogging with photos. Those blogs seem to get the most attention.

  7. I am a crazy quilter so naturally I blog about what I am working on, when I find vintage or new stash to play with, people who inspire me, and also being a gardener I write about nature and just joys of living in the country near the dunes where I collect mermaid tears. My problem is trying to stop blogging.I guess I blog about everything I love! That includes my family and friends too,LOL.

  8. Sometimes blogging about the hardest things in your life can be very inspirational...when your readers feel like they know you and want to keep reading about your life.

Another popular blog topic is "How To's". How to make a pie, a dress, a children's stuffed toy, a paper craft etc. I recently found a post on how to make those huge tissue paper flowers that can be hung from the ceiling...I bookmarked that and sent it to my friends.

Redecorating, befores and afters are always good.

Asking a question about something is a good thing too.

Do any of you join up with linky parties? Have you made any friends doing that? There was a tea party I joined a year or two ago and that was super fun...(might have to start one!)

    Thanks for the great tips.

  9. I am so looking forward to reading everyones input on this as I tend to hit the bloggy brick wall quite often! When I run out of blog fodder from my daily life, I tend to participate in memes. It gets me back in the groove and will usually spark an idea for me to write about in another post.

  10. My biggest inspiration comes from when I see a post from someone and realize that it is NOT what I want to write about. That said, I'll often get ideas from trolling aimlessly around the internet, looking at other blogs and current news.
I want my posts to be funny, inspirational, and entertaining (though I may miss the mark from time to time).

  11. I blog about what brings me comfort... whether it's a family recipe, or making my home cozy... things that remind me of home or gifts I've made for people I love... if it brings me a little joy, I like to share it.

  12. I blog about my life; that is, my life as a mama, but also as me as ME.

So much of what I love reading about included other bold women living life their own way, and wrtiing about all the aspects of it, from parenting, decor, work, clothing, crafting etc. While we are not all bold in the same way, I think we can all connect to the things in each other's lives?

  15. I like to blog about family and day-to-day happenings in our almost empty-nester home.

I talk about my girls...my one-year old granddaughter and how magical that is...the college process (our youngest will be going to Vanderbilt next fall woohoo there goes the rest of our money :)

Travel stories are always great reads. Reading lists...crafts...recipes...faith...

I try to encourage people to think and smile!

Comments are how we stay connected as bloggers. Let us know how you feel and we'll return the favor...stay calm and blog on!!! And guess what? You'll never find Word Verification on our blog...it gets kind of annoying when you can't read what WV wants you to verify right?
