Spotlight with Good Egg Interiors

Today we're so pleased to have Wendy of Good Egg Interiors (with the darling tagline "Helping You Build Your Nest"). Wendy is an interior decorator based out of Salt Lake City, Utah. She is a beautiful wife and mother with an excellent eye for design!

Wendy, her husband, and her two little artists.

BGB: Thanks for joining us today! Start by telling us a little about your blog and business.

Wendy: Thanks for inviting me! My blog is goodegginteriors.blogspot.com. I have been an Interior Decorator for close to 20 years but just started my blog site after my website crashed. I feed my creative side by doing side decorating jobs but my first job is Mom to Max and Lilly. I love going into people’s homes and redecorating…it is so fun to take “stuff” they already have and reuse it in a new way. (Although ordering a brand new, custom sofa is also a thrill.) Right now I have a couple of clients that live far from me. We send fabric samples, etc…via Fed Ex. I love seeing how the customer fleshes out my decorating plan.

BGB: How long have you been blogging?

Wendy: My decorating blog is new but I’ve had a personal blog for going on 4 years.

BGB: What made you start? I DON”T scrapbook.

Wendy: I admire anyone that is able to scrapbook but my poor kids had virtually nothing written…no photographic evidence of their lives until I started blogging. Blogging just seems to work for me in a way nothing else has. My husband is amazed that I’ve done it for as long and as consistently as I have! Short attention span.

BGB: What is your favorite aspect of the “blogosphere” and blogging experience in general?

Wendy: I love the connection to other bloggers. I like seeing other creative sites and being inspired by them. I really like the support most bloggers give each other. The blogging world is really positive and supportive…I love that!

BGB: Are there bloggers who have inspired you? Which ones?

Wendy: Shortly after I started blogging my good friend Char started her blog. Crap I’ve Made. Her blog took off and I’m so proud of her! I also like Design Mom and Pioneer Woman and Nie Nie. Interesting, inspiring women.

BGB: Who designed your blog?

Wendy: Simply Fab blog designs. Lena was so helpful and made it easy for me. I am technologically inept and she didn’t laugh at my “stupid” questions. At least I couldn’t tell if she was laughing.

BGB: When and where do you write your posts?

Wendy: Early morning and late at night. Like most of the women I know.

BGB: Have you ever attended a just for bloggers event? If so, which one(s)?

Wendy: No. I don’t consider myself a blogger like that. I think of my blog as really a side job. I get most of my decorating clients through word of mouth and my facebook page. So “blogger” feels like a foreign title to me. I see so many other people as “professional bloggers” and those events seem to suit them. The idea of an event like that is a little intimidating for me.

BGB: Are there any negatives to blogging you’re concerned about?

Wendy: My true passion is seeing people face to face and watching them get excited when I change their space. Blogging doesn’t quite give you that. But, overall, blogging is this amazing tool that keeps me in touch with my creative side when I am ignoring fighting children in the background. And I love getting comments from friends and people I don’t even know! That gives me a little thrill.

BGB: Which blogs do you read often? Any favorites?

Wendy: The women I’ve mentioned are must reads everyday. I also love Coco+Kelly, My Notting Hill, and Color Me Katie.

BGB: What are currently working on?

Wendy: I have a family room I’m working on in California right now. That is going to be a fun challenge. I live in Utah so I won’t get pictures first hand of the project. That happens, so I rely on my clients to send photos for my blog. I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

Thanks for inviting me on your site! I loved doing this interview! Thank you!

Thanks to Wendy for taking the time to be featured on the Blog Guidebook. Be sure to stop by her nest:

  1. I love, love, LOVE Wendy (and I'm not just saying that because she mentioned me).

She's one of my very favorite people and her house is gorgeous. It makes those of us with the same floor plan (hint: me) a little self conscious because we see how good our place could look!

  3. Wendy's creativity is what makes her a great designer and, although she doesn't consider herself a blogger, at least a great writer.

As far as her design sensibilities go, I've seen her house and, even with two very active children, it is attractive and comfortable.

  4. Fun interview! I was just thinking today "what should I do with our bare hallway?" and I'm totally going to have it all framed peices of art from my kiddo, inspired by the posted pics. Okay, off to check out Wendy's blog to get to know her more!

Comments are how we stay connected as bloggers. Let us know how you feel and we'll return the favor...stay calm and blog on!!! And guess what? You'll never find Word Verification on our blog...it gets kind of annoying when you can't read what WV wants you to verify right?
