Should I Stay or Should I Go?

It has been some time since I posted last...and it has come to my realization that my posting days are nearly done. There is so much going on in the blogging world these days that there is no way I can keep up on it alone. I am homeschooling faithfully now, not sporadically, and that takes up a big chunk of my day. Plus, we are a gluten, grain free family now, so I have to focus much of my energy on preparing food for my family that will keep us feeling healthy and good. I started teaching a blogging class a few weeks ago to teenagers and what I'm teaching them has forced me to acknowledge that I'm not doing the things a blogger needs to do to be successful!

I think this blog is so full of information that can help new bloggers. It may not be super current with all the changes that Blogger has made and will make...but the basics will always be the same. The Blog Guidebook will remain here, after all, I spent a ton of cash to keep the domain and to maintain the blog...it is not going to disappear.

There are other things I'd like to pursue in the blogging world also...like writing about other subjects that I'm currently excited about...crafting, teaching, cooking and writing e-books. I'm also moving closer to having a small photography business.

Will you still read my blog if I'm not posting often? Should I keep going? What are your thoughts? I'd love to hear your input.

  1. Oh my gosh please stay! Yes I do go to your blog often, and even if you don't post as often as you have in the past, I will still read this blog. As well as any other blog you do. SO please don't go! That is my plea. Does it help?

  2. I always read your posts, whether they are regular or occasional. I don't even pay a lot of attention to how often people post if I like what they write about. Do what you need to do for your family, and don't feel obligated to keep posting if that's not what's best for you, but since you've gone through all the efforts to get your domain you might as well keep writing once in awhile. You may lose some followers but most will still read your posts! Either way, thanks so much for all you've shared!

  3. I've just come across your blog in the past few months and it helped me very much! I love it, and I would read your posts whenever you posted. Please stay! I think it's more beneficial to other bloggers than you actually realize. :)

  4. I wouldn't feel pressure one way or the other. Do what you need to to be happy :) I read your blog and it has helped me in my blogging adventure. I would still read if you only posted once in awhile :)

  5. You should do what makes YOU happy! As you said blogging information will be here... You shouldn't force yourself to keep doing something, while you don't have the time or you 're interested in something new! Of course it's sad and we will miss you, but we wish you the best and we will wait impatiently for your updates!

  8. I think you should stay too! And, if you write about other things, I'd love to read them too, or direct us to your new blog!

  9. As a new blogger, I so love your posts. Even if they're infrequent, they're so helpful. Honestly, I follow you with BlogLovin', so it's not like I'm having to check in constantly to see if you have posted. I'd recommend others do the same.

  10. I definitely would continue to read, Sarah. Your blog has been tremendously helpful to me and it's my go-to for all things blogger.
Follow your passion! I'm into both cooking and photography so I get it, lol. Good luck!

  11. First, you must do what makes you happy. If blogging here on a regular basis is hard then don't do it or do it once a month. That said, your blog is the first one I go to when I'm stuck. I would keep it up for all the information you have worked so hard to give us. Even doing a monthly post about one update that we all should know would be wonderful; like a "did you know". Every blogger moves on to new and wonderful things. Remember blogging is supposed to be fun!

  12. Take care of your family!!! # 1, you must role model for your family and if children are involved, its not your turn anymore until they are young adults in college or university. If your eye has caught another project, please peruse it, we all like a change. Please keep your blog guide book alive and well. Please post when you have time, we will always come back to it. I appreciate your guidance here. So, move forward, grow with your health family, come back and give us readers a tidbit once in away....enjoy the journey

  13. Do what you need to do. I'll still be hear reading your posts whether frequent or far between. I have used your tips and ideas so many times and know how helpful they have been...and still are to a new blogger. Even those of us that have been around have lives and don't always get to things in a timely manner...it's nice to know that I can come back and check out a topic on the site because it's not going away.
    Hugs,
    Kathy

  14. Spread your wings Sarah! I have found your blog to be a great resource that will always be there for me as I need it. I have not had the time to make many improvements to my own blog yet, but have intentions of reading your past posts one by one and following your suggestions. Thank you for such great tutorials!

  15. I am a fairly new follower and find the info you share very helpful. I like your past posts as a resource and even if you only add to you information once or twice a month, it would be appreciated.

  16. Your blog has been so helpful to me over the past few years. I have struggled also with finding the balance to keep blogging and hope that you do find a happy place with it, whatever you decide. I still refer back to old posts of yours and would certainly still be a follower if you only posted once in awhile. Blessings to you!

    1. I probably am! But I get this way about once a year regarding this blog. I just really feel that something has to change here...I can't keep doing it all.

    2. I wasn't sure where you left your question, so try this in your CSS box to get rid of drop shadow: http://www.blogguidebook.com/2011/10/how-to-remove-shadows-from-simple-theme.html

  20. Sarah, your tips have helped me and I appreciate every one but obviously you need to follow your heart. Here's the thing...it sounds like we're all here to happily read your insights whenever you can find the time to share them. We know you have other things on your plate :-) I personally have you on BlogLovin which I review every day so when you post like you did today, it pops in for me and stays there till I get to it. so it's easy-peasy on this end!

    Thanks for everything!

  23. Sarah-
Although I don't read your blog regularly, when I do, I always learn alot, and enjoy your posts. I, too, have a blog and am struggling with keeping it up, as well.
All I can say is "DO YOU!" Whatever it is that you need to do to keep yourself happy, sane and of course, happiness for your family. Enjoy your life, and good luck!

  24. Please stay, even if you don't post often. I JUST started a blog and I love your site. Family comes first. One of my girls is allergic to peanuts, milk, and eggs so I know how time consuming that is. Ill take any of your posts I can get.

  25. I'm just now reading but I hope you stay. I'm a blog-a-holic so I'll read what ever you post as fast as I can.

  26. You are the second blogger today I follow that has asked that question. I say stay, post when you can as there are no blog rules, no blog police to come to your door saying you must write. Take care of family first and know so many have learned so much from you!

  27. I regularly follow your blog and come back when I need to change things round as I always seem to forget :O) I totally understand what you are saying as I feel the same about my own blog. I think after a few years of giving it your all it's hard to keep going. Looking forward to seeing you on a new blog though :o) M

  28. I just found your blog and like you, am a devoted family person who loves to blog, but only when the content is worthy for my readers and my family and my career demands (I am in education) are met. I will read your posts as they arrive in my email box, just as my devoted readers do with my blogs, whether I'm on a roll (in the summer usually) or too busy for the moment. Blessings to you, Roz

Comments are how we stay connected as bloggers. Let us know how you feel and we'll return the favor...stay calm and blog on!!! And guess what? You'll never find Word Verification on our blog...it gets kind of annoying when you can't read what WV wants you to verify right?
