Tip of the Week - Space Saver Marquee

Our sidebars are precious real estate in the blogging world...we can do a lot with a few square inches. I have been using a space saving tool that is super easy to install and you can keep adding to it! I call it the Scrolling Marquee, not sure of the official name....
Here's an example of what mine looks like on my blog (may take a moment to load and then you'll see it start moving):

Heartsy - Daily deals on fabulous handmade items, at least 50% off. Hip Homeschool Hop ButtonShow and Tell The Girl CreativeThe Graphics Fairy
These are clickable buttons by the way! Try it!

How it works:
  1. Copy and Paste the HTML code below into a HTML/Java Script Gadget.
  2. When the gadget is open copy and paste various button codes (portrayed in BLACK) that you would like to display in between the beginning and ending of the code (portrayed in BLUE and RED)
  3. Click SAVE and drag the gadget to the location in your sidebar where you would like it to remain.
  4. Click SAVE again and VIEW blog.
SCROLLING MARQUEE CODE:

<marquee onmouseover=”this.stop()” direction=”down” width=”200px” onmouseout=”this.start()” scrollamount=”1″ loop=”true” height=”200px”> <a href="http://showandtell-sausha.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><img alt="Show and Tell" src="http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/zz252/saushakhoundet/Grab_button_final.png" /></a> </marquee>

Hope it works for you! Have a great weekend! P.S. You can change the width to the size of your sidebar by changing the 200px to the size you need, such as 125, 150 etc. I've tried messing with other numbers to slow down the speed, but no luck there yet.

To answer a few questions from the comments: Add all the code, except the black (which is an example of button coding). To add more than one button, just add button code after first one.

  1. Awesome! So do you have to add the html code to each button for it to scroll?

  6. Hi Sarah, Thanks so much for this... love it! I added it to my sidebar... my question is how do I get the 2 buttons to be next to each other rather than vertical. Thanks!
