Are you caught in a loop?

I've had many of our readers write to me and ask me why they can't comment anymore on other people's blogs...this problem started last spring after Blogger made some changes to something-or-other and some of you got stuck with the fallout.
Many of you were able to work around this glitch by logging out and logging and then commenting, but then you'd always get kicked out or just loop around and end up doing nothing. Sound familiar?

Well, there is good news and possibly a solution!

I was just reading on The Real Blogger Status about the problem I just mentioned above, so you may want to read it here. Here is a simplified version of what was discussed:

You will have to search for the authentication cookie that has been blocked by your browser.
Do this by clearing your "cache", "cookies", "history", and "bookmarks". Look through your security settings and see if there are extra cookies saved there.

Delete the bookmark you might have saved in your browser that directs you to your blogger account. Go to blogger.com directly and log in there.

One reader suggested unchecking the "Remember Me" box at login:

Enable third party cookies then log on to blogger using www.blogger.com instead of using a bookmark for your blog, (after the bookmark has been deleted) and uncheck the "keep me signed in" option.

I hope these little tips will allow you to comment easily again...comments are what make the blogs go round!

  1. People have told me that they've had trouble commenting on mine but I've had no trouble on anyone elses... I use Firefox and I've heard that makes a difference. Someone asked me to switch my comments to a pop-up box so they could comment but when I did I got all kinds of anonymous spam, when I use a list of comments I get none. Very strange!

  2. I also read out on blogger and found this solution : do NOT use the 'keep me signed in' feature when you sign into google. And guess what IT WORKED... just a little extra time to sign in everytime instead of google remembering me but has been SOOOOO worth it.

  3. This happened to me as well, and I also keep that box unchecked and have been able to comment again. My other problem is that my followers box is missing on my blog, and I can't see it on others blogs either. They can see mine, but I can't see any. I checked with blogger, and they had me clear some things but that didn't help. :(

  4. Michelle, what have you tried to fix the problem? What did Blogger say? Have you updated your browser? Have you tried refreshing the page a few times? Sometimes ours doesn't show up the first few times. Let me know.

  6. Susan,
Make sure and turn on your word verification so you don't get as much spam.

  7. Kim,
After a few times of not saving your login info, you should be able to click that box again and be okay.

    Hope it all works!

  8. Thank you, thank you! Blogger has been driving me mad lately with not keeping me signed in. I've not been able to comment for ages. I've not tried out the things you suggest yet as I've only just read this, but I will give it a go and keep my fingers firmly croseed!

  9. Thank you - I will try the steps you suggest. I have been using the method you suggest of not staying signed in, for a while now. It enables me to leave a comment most times but recently instead of the id photo I have a large exclamation mark which is rather unpleasant. I'm off now to try the other steps.

  11. Hey! I haven't been able to get out of the loop for months! Howevever, I read this post yesterday and a couple of other things that were over my head. Then, something triggered me to search for "enable third party cookies," and I came to the link below. Looks like it did the trick? Can it be this easy? I've been able to comment! -- michele

Comments are how we stay connected as bloggers. Let us know how you feel and we'll return the favor...stay calm and blog on!!! And guess what? You'll never find Word Verification on our blog...it gets kind of annoying when you can't read what WV wants you to verify right?
